La Salle and St. Raphael Resume Title Series Today

Maroon Selects McAleer To Send After First Victory

Saints to Call Upon Fiore to Wrap Up Championship at Aldrich Field

The most important game of the year faces La Salle Academy's baseball team this afternoon at Aldrich Field, where it meets St. Raphael Academy in the second game of the baseball championship of the Interscholastic League. The Maroons are one game down after losing the opener, 3 to 0.

Carl Toti, La Salle coach, will call on Tom McAleer, a veteran right-hander to pitch. Barney Garrity, coach at St. Raphael's, will have his sophmore find of the year, Paul Fiore, shooting for the all-important clinching victory.

Fiore, hampered earlier in the season by an injury, came like a whirlwind at the end of the season and has become the top pitcher for the Saints. His deceptive side-arm curve ball may prove too puzzling to the Maroons. Fiore beat Westerly in the semi-final series twice, giving up four hits in the first victory and winning a 12-inning decision in the second.

McAleer, winner of the opening game in the semi-final series, 14 to 1, hasn't pitched sinnce then and should be well rested.
